We’re celebrating 60 years of creative excellence at CCP! Since opening our doors, the College has been a hub for fine artists, designers, theater artists, musicians, filmmakers, writers, and creatives who have left their mark on campus, across Philadelphia, and beyond. Join us for the opening reception of our 60th Anniversary Alumni Art Showcase on Sept. 17, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., in the Mint Building. Come see more than 70 incredible works from more than 40 CCP alumni! This showcase celebrates the creativity and expressions of professional and nonprofessional artists from a variety of programs, including visual arts, music, theater, photography and beyond—and you'll have the opportunity to purchase them our our opening reception. Join us to take home some work from your soon-to-be-favorite local artists!

Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase selected works through a silent auction beginning at our opening reception on Sept. 17 and ending on Sept. 30th. We’re partnering with Gala Bid for a seamless silent auction experience that you can access on your mobile web browser. Sign up ahead of time, so you can easily place a bid on any pieces that catch your eye.

CCP to Host 60th Anniversary Alumni Art Showcase
Throughout the month of September, Community College of Philadelphia will host an alumni showcase featuring more than 70 pieces of artwork from more than 40 artists, celebrating 60 years of the arts at the College.

Molding Rhythm and RISE: Natalie Gustafson, Live Wheel Throwing Demonstration
Natalie Gustafson is a Biology student at CCP with an interest in and talent for art. During Rhythm and RISE, she will be joining another student, Sofia Shapiro, on the pottery wheel, demonstrating live wheel throwing for guests to enjoy.

Capturing Rhythm and RISE: Rhythm Soto, Live Painting Demonstration
Rhythm Soto is a 2026 CCP graduate and is coming back to campus on June 9 to participate in Rhythm and RISE, our 60th anniversary celebration. During the event, Rhythm will be give a live painting demonstration, creating a visual of the evening and capturing the spirit of our community.

Engaging Rhythm and RISE: Yerancy Acevedo, Theater Activation
Yerancy Acevedo is a student in the Theater department at CCP and will be participating in Rhythm and RISE, along with other students in the same program. What she’s most looking forward to is showcasing her own and her classmates’ talents and giving attendees a peek inside their program.

Hailee Augustus is a Theater student at Community College of Philadelphia and participating in Rhythm and RISE on June 9. She is excited to be a part of this event and showcase her own and her classmates’ talents.

From All Angles: Rich Rodovalho’s Story
Rich Rodovalho started working in construction when he was 19 years old building homes and other developments for national builders like Toll Brothers and Ryan Homes. After he felt like he had a strong understanding of the development side of the AEC industry, he wanted to see how far he could expand his knowledge. Now, Rich is graduating from CCP with an associate degree in Architecture and is set to attend Columbia University to complete a 4+1 program, where he will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture and a master’s degree in Real Estate Development.

Graduating Student Wins Scribe Mediamaker Award
Lakiysha "Kesha" Tilghman, a graduating Digital Video Production student, originally became interested in audio/visual management through her church. After realizing the church needed support in this area, she stepped up and took responsibility herself. Now, she’s working on her own original documentary project thanks to an award from the Scribe Video Center’s Philadelphia Student Mediamaker Fund which gives qualifying students $1,000 to support the production of a documentary.

Foundations in Art: Jonathan Lyndon Chase
Jonathan Lyndon Chase is an interdisciplinary, Philadelphia-based artist who works in painting, video, sound and sculpture to depict queer Black love and community amid the backdrop of urban and domestic spaces. They are also a proud graduate of Community College of Philadelphia. On Oct. 16, Chase came back to campus for an artist talk event where they shared some of their artwork and experiences working as an artist with our students, faculty and staff.

Advancing Student Learning and Architecture: Ariel Vazquez
Ariel Vazquez, an assistant professor and coordinator for Architecture and Interior Design, is also an alum of the program. Vazquez’s commitment to advancing the Architecture, Design and Construction program at CCP is a testament to his connection to the institution and his experience as a former student.

Sanaa Desper Finds Education Beyond the Classroom
For Sanaa Desper, attending CCP is much more than just showing up in the classroom. She’s taken full advantage of the boundless opportunities that exist here for students. Sanaa, a Photography major, works as a student social media content creator in the College’s Strategic Communications office, participated in a summer study abroad trip to Ghana and worked in an internship role at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. She’s accomplished all of this before even starting her second year at CCP.
