Gabriela Hevia: From CCP to the 2024 Paris Olympics 

In the nearly nine years that Gabriela Hevia has lived in the United States, she has learned English, graduated from Community College of Philadelphia, discovered her passion for digital art and landed a prestigious internship with NBC Sports during the 2024 Olympic Games. Originally from Venezuela, Gabriela said she spoke little to no English when her family first came to the U.S. to flee political unrest in their home country. After completing a year at Philly’s Northeast High School, Gabriela started taking English classes at CCP. Once she had a strong enough handle on the language, she decided to start studying what she was truly passionate about: digital video production.

Diagnostic Medical Imaging Students’ Extraordinary Achievement:  A 100 Percent Radiography Exam Pass Rate Extending 20 Years

Students in the College’s Diagnostic Medical Imaging (DMI) program are ready to start careers as radiologic technologists after graduating and passing the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification examination in Radiography, which is necessary to work in the field. For the past 20 years, students have achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the exam, on their first try, within six months of graduation.
