New faculty will instruct across various departments, including English, Biology, Music, Behavioral Health/Human Services, Nursing and more
PHILADELPHIA – Community College of Philadelphia is proud to announce the hiring of 35 new full-time faculty, one of the largest cohorts of new hires in recent College history.
“Our students are at the heart of every decision we make at Community College of Philadelphia,” said Dr. Alycia Marshall, president of CCP. “Ensuring their success begins with providing them with exceptional faculty who are prepared, supported and empowered to help them thrive. As a former faculty member, I know firsthand the profound difference a great teacher can make. Our faculty inspire possibility, create opportunity and change lives. Investing in them is an investment in our students, our College and the future of Philadelphia.”
The new faculty will be instructing across 15 departments, including Behavioral Health/Human Services; Foundational Mathematics; Middle/Secondary Education; Physics; Allied Health; English; Art; Business Leadership, Fashion & Hospitality; Nursing; History, Philosophy & Religious Studies; Biology; Transportation Technologies; Architecture, Design & Construction; Academic Advising; and Music.
Based on the last 10 years of hiring data, CCP averages about 13 new full-time faculty hires per year.
“The addition of 35 new faculty members marks the largest group of full-time faculty hires in recent history,” said Dr. Lisa Sanders, interim provost and vice president of Academic and Student Success. “This investment reflects our commitment to student success and academic excellence. By welcoming these talented educators to our community, we are ensuring that our students learn from dedicated professionals who are prepared to inspire, challenge, and support them throughout their educational journey."
In addition to the 35 full-time faculty, the College hired 28 full-time staff in administrative and other non-teaching roles.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I’m honored to welcome this cohort of faculty to Community College of Philadelphia,” said Harold T. Epps, chair of the CCP Board of Trustees. “I have heard countless stories from CCP students about professors who inspired them, challenged them, and changed the trajectory of their lives. CCP is a tremendous institution and a great benefit to our community. Our instructors are the reason why.”
All 35 new hires began teaching at the start of the fall semester on Sept. 8.
