CCP Celebrates Completion of City College for Municipal Employment Initiative’s Second Cohort

Jun 16, 2026

On June 1, Community College of Philadelphia celebrated the second cohort of City College for Municipal Employment completers, a new program formed in partnership with the City of Philadelphia, the School District of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Works and CCP. During its first year, the program saw 24 completers across two programs. This year, we are proud to congratulate over 160 completers across five programs, demonstrating the overall success of this project.

During the recognition ceremony, guests and completers heard from Dr. Alycia Marshall, CCP president; Patrick Clancy, CCP Board of Trustees member president and CEO of Philadelphia Works; Carol de Fries, executive director of Municipal College and Workforce Programming at the City of Philadelphia; Mayor Cherelle Parker; Dr. Tony Watlington Sr., superintendent of the School District of Philadelphia; Camille Duchaussee, chief administrative officer of the City of Philadelphia; and four of the completing students.

During her remarks, Mayor Parker commented on the groundbreaking work that this program is accomplishing in the workforce development space, not only in our city, but nationally as well. “Leaders who do similar work in cities across the nation, they are looking to our leadership...on what the pathway should look like for workforce development across the country.” CCP is proud to be part of this partnership that is changing both lives and communities one cohort at a time.

One of the completing students, Ahniah Hickman, spoke about the important life skills she cultivated while learning. “Through the CCME program, I developed professionalism, emotional intelligence, leadership skills and the ability to navigate real world environments with confidence,” she said. Ahniah was part of the Business and Administration Pathway and hopes to build a successful career in business, media and marketing. “The program taught me how to communicate effectively, carry myself in professional spaces, and understand the importance of discipline, accountability, and networking.”

The City College for Municipal Employment is a City of Philadelphia program that opens doors to Philadelphians 18 and older with a high school diploma to FREE career training and education, preparing Philadelphians to work and serve in essential areas of City government with good paying jobs, health care, retirement and other benefits.
