About This Certificate
Addiction impacts individuals across all demographics. According to the National Institutes of Health, roughly 10% of U.S. adults will struggle with substance use disorder at some point in their lives. That's why community support and professional intervention are essential for a healthier Philadelphia. This program takes a multidisciplinary approach to addiction recovery, integrating access to public benefits like health care and food subsidies with traditional forms of mental health counseling like talk therapy.
In this program, you will learn to assess the needs of patients at various stages of addiction recovery, applying theory learned in the classroom and knowledge gained through hands-on experience. Students will participate in an internship during their time in this program, and will be prepared to apply for the Pennsylvania Certified Board’s (PCB) Associate Addiction Counselor certification upon graduation.
