$1M Pledge from Gilroy and Lillian P. Roberts Charitable Foundation
The Community College of Philadelphia Foundation received a $1 million pledge from the Gilroy and Lillian P. Roberts Charitable Foundation to support the Gilroy Roberts Gallery and Collection housed in the College’s Mint Building. In addition, the Gilroy and Lillian P. Roberts Charitable Foundation also named the Open Study of the College’s Library and Learning Commons in memory of Dr. Stanley Merves. Dr. Merves was the managing trustee of the Gilroy and Lillian P. Roberts Charitable Foundation and a longtime supporter of higher education in Philadelphia.“We are delighted to continue and grow our relationship with the College,” said Jennifer Merves Robbins, managing trustee for the Gilroy and Lillian P. Roberts Charitable Foundation. “The Mint Building is where Mr. Roberts spent many years working for the U.S. Mint, and it is a fitting tribute to house his works, and share with the public, there. We are also delighted that the College now has a beautiful open study, where students can work, create, study, and dream by themselves and with each other.”
