Center on Disability

Advocate, Collaborate and Empower

The Center on Disability (COD) fosters an educational environment that is inclusive of and accessible to the diverse population served by Community College of Philadelphia. It works collaboratively with College constituencies and outside agencies that support individuals with unique or complex learning needs. The Center is an office within the Division of Educational Support Services, which seeks to empower students, faculty and administrators to embrace disability as an integral component of the diversity that exemplifies the College.

What’s Available?

Getting Started with the Center on Disability

The Center on Disability is here to assist students with disabilities by connecting you to the resources you need to achieve your educational goals.

Academic Accommodations

Learn more about classroom accommodations for students with disabilities.

Admission to the College

Students with a disability should follow the standard application process established by Admissions. Disability is not considered in the application process, and COD registration has no bearing on your application outcome.

Placement Testing

Before registering for classes, you must take one or more placement tests to ensure enrollment in classes appropriate to your skill. To prepare properly:

  • Review information associated with Placement Testing
  • Review the test descriptions
  • Engage in the study activities and take the practice tests
  • If you have used testing accommodations previously, we recommend that you seek accommodations for your Placement Tests by following the Steps for Registering with the COD

PLEASE NOTE: If you were involved in a high school program that included modified assignments, modified tests (other than extended time or distraction-reduced setting), substantial one-to-one services, life skills support, or other modified instruction, we advise you to take the placement test.  Any student who needs accommodations for taking the placement test should contact the Center on Disability (COD [at] ccp.edu (COD[at]ccp[dot]edu)).
