Latine Heritage Month Luncheon
Students, faculty and staff are invited to join us for a savory Latine luncheon featuring Amy Rivera Nassar and Victor Tejada, Philadelphia Latine Business owners sharing their inspirational entrepreneurial journey. Since 2018, Amy’s Pastelillos has been highlighting one particular “fritura” (fried snack) from the island of Puerto Rico: the pastelillo. Amy’s Pastelillos began as a tribute to her mother, which has evolved from a popup concept to a brick and mortar, catering and wholesale business in Fishtown. Víctor Tejada, the visionary founder of DeliveryGuys Apps, has made an indelible mark on the food delivery industry by completely transforming it. His inspiration came during the COVID-19 pandemic when he worked as a delivery driver for renowned services like DoorDash, Uber, and GrubHub. During this period, Víctor discovered his passion for taking orders from local restaurants and engaging in meaningful conversations with the owners while waiting for requests, however, he also noticed a significant imbalance: independent restaurants were struggling to compete with larger chains. This disparity led him to establish DeliveryGuys Apps, providing local restaurants with the access to technology and information necessary to thrive in the digital age.
