Poets Tim Seibles and Dawn Manning will read from and discuss their work in a Looking Closely – How Poets Expand the World session on Thursday, March 17 from 9:30-11:10 a.m. in the Center for Business and Industry, Room C2-28, as part of the 2016 Poets and Writers Festival. Both poets and non-poets are welcome.

Drop The Mic - Premeire Party

Come see student performances, watch the first episode and enjoy pizza plus other light refreshments. The Drop the Mic Spoken Word Poetry Competition, hosted by Dr. Michelle Myers, associate professor of English, features Community College of Philadelphia students. The six, one-hour episodes air on CCPTV beginning Feb. 8, 2016, and air daily at 10 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Jazz Ensemble Performance

The Music Department's Fall 2015 Performance series will conclude with an off-campus performance on Monday, Dec. 21, between 8 and 10 p.m., at Connie's Ric Rac in South Philadelphia at the Italian Market, 1132 South 9th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19147. The College’s Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Anthony Ferrara, will perform jazz and popular classics from the 1930s through the 1960s.

Chamber Music Ensemble Performance

The College’s Chamber Music Ensembles, under the direction of Vivian Barton Dozor, and the College’s Vocal Ensemble, under the direction of H.L. Smith, II will perform.

M.A.R.S. Ensemble Performance

The M.A.R.S Ensemble (the College’s electronic ensemble), under the direction of Paul Geissinger, will feature their unique blend of multimedia/electronic improvisation. Following, will be a performance at 5:30 p.m. by the College’s Modern Pop and Rock Ensemble, under the direction of Anne Sciolla, performing a mix of recent hits and original tunes written and arranged collaboratively by the ensemble.
