SRA 270 - Social Research Practicum

3-0-3
Credit Hours: 3

This capstone practicum course provides students with hands-on experience in social research through supervised field placements in various organizations such as government agencies, non-profits, tech companies, or market research firms. Students will engage in 96 hours of fieldwork alongside a weekly seminar to reflect on experiences, integrate social research skills, and refine their professional goals. Supervision and feedback will be provided by both site mentors and the course instructor.

Field placements will align with students' professional interests, offering opportunities to apply methods learned throughout the program, such as qualitative and quantitative analysis, data visualization, and stakeholder communication. Weekly seminar discussions, journals, and a final portfolio will prepare students to excel in diverse professional settings and contribute to evidence-based decision-making in their chosen fields.
