The Practicum I course is the first of two required hands-on learning courses where students apply academic learning in a BHHS related agency under the direction of agency supervisors. This course bridges essential theoretical learning and supervised experience in human services agencies across Philadelphia and surrounding counties. Students complete a minimum of 125 hours in an approved human services setting, engaging in direct client interactions and gaining professional experience with individuals, families, groups, or communities. Emphasis is placed on ethical practice, foundational helping skills, professional identity development, and advocacy in both traditional and telehealth service modalities. Students must confirm their agency placement with the Practicum Coordinator 4 weeks before the semester they are enrolled.

BHHS Practicum Education Coordinator approval.
