This course explores the artistic outputs of Africa and its diasporas. Students learn about the diverse countries, empires, and cultures present in Africa through a thematic global exploration. There is a particular emphasis on the ways artists and makers have—and continue to—engage with themes of survival, exchange, power, resistance, community, and memory.
