One Book, One College Author Visit| 11:30 a.m. | Bonnell Auditorium
Kiese Laymon, author of Heavy: An American Memoir, will be visiting the College to discuss his book. A book signing will follow at 12:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Free copies of Heavy are available in the Main Campus Library and at the Northeast Regional Center Library while supplies last.
Kiese, an award-winning Southern author from Jackson, Mississippi, is the Libby Shearn Moody Professor of English and Creative Writing at Rice University, and a MacArthur Fellow. He will talk about his memoir and answer audience questions. His other works include the essay collection How to Slowly Kill Yourself and Others in America and the novel Long Division. He graduated from Oberlin College and earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Indiana University.

The One Book, One College program at Community College of Philadelphia seeks to foster critical thinking, rigorous discussion, and engagement both inside and outside the classroom amongst students, faculty, staff, administration and alumni/friends.
