Community College of Philadelphia's Colonials men's basketball team starts its journey to win the National Junior College Athletic Associations (NJCAA) National Basketball Championship by hosting a 6 p.m. home game on Tuesday, Feb. 24, in the quarterfinal round of the NJCAA Region XIX's Division III tournament.
The Colonials, who are ranked #1 in Region XIX and #7 overall among NJCAA Division III colleges in the nation, will play at the Athletics Center. Admission to this game is free and open to the public.
If the Colonials win on Feb. 24, they will compete in the semifinal round on Thursday, Feb. 26 at the Brookdale Recreation and Events Center, Lincroft, N.J., at 7:30 p.m. The Colonials go into Tuesday's game with a 23-2 overall record.
The ticket prices for the Feb. 26 game is $12 each for adults, and $5 each for students with valid ID and youth 13 years old and under.
The playoffs cap off an amazing season for the team. Two Colonials players have received recognition as part of the 2014-15 Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) Men's Basketball All-Conference Team. Rafiq Johnson was selected First Team All-EPAC, and Marcus Smith was selected as Second Team All-EPAC. The College's Head Basketball coach Joe Rome was named EPAC Coach of the Year.
