In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Community College of Philadelphia presents a Diversity Dialogue that explores the impact of the Latino community in Philadelphia, from culture to education, to politics and beyond. The discussion will be led by the College's president, Dr. Donald Guy Generals, following opening remarks by Marissa Johnson-Valenzuela, assistant professor of English. Former City Councilman Angel Ortiz will provide a snapshot of the long decades of achievements and contributions to the city’s vitality. Audience members are invited to enrich the dialogue during a Q&A by sharing ways the broader community can collaborate and serve as a community ally. This experience has been curated with the intent of providing historical context regarding the Latino population in Philadelphia and a glimpse of pressing challenges. It seeks to both pose and answer a question: What is our role as citizens in supporting diversity and inclusion?
