The Automotive Service I Proficiency Certificate is designed for individuals who are interested in entering the field of automotive technology with a basic set of core skills. Students who complete the Proficiency Certificate will be prepared to obtain employment in a small shop, dealership, or franchise-based repair facility. When completed, the courses may be applied towards the Automotive Technology Associate in Applied Science Degree.
Additionally, the Automotive Technology programs have manufacturer partnerships with Nissan of North America and Ford Motor Company through the Nissan Technician Training Academy and Ford Technical Career Entry Program - Maintenance & Light Repair (MLR). Students enrolled in the Automotive Technology AAS program, or the Automotive Service Proficiency Certificate I or Proficiency Certificate II programs are able to participate in these manufacturer programs. These programs can lead to Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification and other specialty training certifications to further prepare students for the workforce.
Community College of Philadelphia's Automotive Technology Center is currently under construction as we build a new, state-of-the-art Career and Advanced Technical Center, scheduled to open in 2022. During construction, the Automotive Technology Center is temporarily housed on the first floor of the Center for Business and Industry building on Main Campus.
