David and Susanne Scott made a generous donation to support the Thomas R. and Cathryn Scott Mathematics Award with a gift of over $32,000 to honor his late mother and father, a former mathematics teacher at Community College of Philadelphia.

In memory of Max Eirich, a longtime English professor at Community College of Philadelphia, Amy and Matt Eirich established the Max Eirich Scholarship with a gift of $10,000.

A faculty member for 41 years before her retirement in 2015, Marcia Epstein made her largest commitment this past spring with a pledge of $30,000 for the Goldschlager Future Teacher Award, a scholarship for students pursuing a degree in education.

GIVING TO SUPPORT STUDENT SUCCESS

Quest for the Best is a charitable foundation providing funds to those who are committed to strengthening the common good of mankind. This year, Quest for the Best funded a scholarship for nursing students at Community College of Philadelphia with a grant of $15,000.

Pennsylvania Vision Foundation gave $10,000 for the Vision Benefits of America Opportunity Scholarship to support students in the Ophthalmic Certificate Program. This program of study prepares students to become ophthalmic assistants who will work under the supervision of optometrists or ophthalmologists to provide patient care by performing many different eye- and vision-related clinical functions.

With a pledge of $1 million over five years, the Joseph and Marie Field Foundation established the Joseph and Marie Field Foundation Opportunity Scholarship. Since it began two years ago, the scholarship has been awarded to 145 students. Following the challenges of the pandemic, the impact of the scholarship is especially evident with retention 14% higher for Field students than the general student population. Seven graduates from the first year of funding transferred to four-year institutions, including Temple University, University of Pennsylvania, Boise State University, and West Chester University.
