GIVING TO SUPPORT STUDENT SUCCESS

Quest for the Best is a charitable foundation providing funds to those who are committed to strengthening the common good of mankind. This year, Quest for the Best funded a scholarship for nursing students at Community College of Philadelphia with a grant of $15,000.

Pennsylvania Vision Foundation gave $10,000 for the Vision Benefits of America Opportunity Scholarship to support students in the Ophthalmic Certificate Program. This program of study prepares students to become ophthalmic assistants who will work under the supervision of optometrists or ophthalmologists to provide patient care by performing many different eye- and vision-related clinical functions.

With a pledge of $1 million over five years, the Joseph and Marie Field Foundation established the Joseph and Marie Field Foundation Opportunity Scholarship. Since it began two years ago, the scholarship has been awarded to 145 students. Following the challenges of the pandemic, the impact of the scholarship is especially evident with retention 14% higher for Field students than the general student population. Seven graduates from the first year of funding transferred to four-year institutions, including Temple University, University of Pennsylvania, Boise State University, and West Chester University.

Hilco Redevelopment Partners pledged $250,000 to provide annual scholarships for the next decade to Community College of Philadelphia students. The Hilco Helps Scholarship Program will provide scholarships to current, full-time students pursuing an associate degree who reside in five ZIP code areas of Philadelphia. To kick off the annual program, four students were awarded scholarships for the 2021-2022 academic year.

“With your help from your scholarship you have helped me to stay afloat with my resources, making that sure my internet is available, and that I have a working computer. Other than being a student, I am a single mom and your funds have helped my son during these tough times. I am just so thankful that you can help me achieve my dream to graduate. Thank you so much!”
