This first-of-its-kind partnership with Jefferson will offer College students an accelerated pathway to earning a Doctor of Pharmacy

PHILADELPHIA – Community College of Philadelphia and Thomas Jefferson University have announced that they will host a signing event to officially establish an agreement offering an accelerated pathway to earning a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD). This is the first-of-its-kind partnership between Jefferson College of Pharmacy and a community college.

The event will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14 in the Bonnell Building Lobby, 1700 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130. The main entrance to the Bonnell Building is on 17th Street between Spring Garden and Callowhill streets.

Remarks will be provided by Dr. Donald “Guy” Generals, president of Community College of Philadelphia; Dr. Peter Miller, senior associate provost of Academic Enterprise Initiatives at Thomas Jefferson University; Dr. Alycia Marshall, vice president of Academic and Student Success at the College; and Rebecca Finley, PharmD, dean and professor at Thomas Jefferson University.

Typically, students interested in pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy first earn a bachelor’s degree prior to applying for admission into the program. However, this specialized partnership will enable College students who earn associate degrees in biology with required coursework to apply directly to the PharmD program. Students are guaranteed an interview once they meet the admissions requirements.

College students who have previously graduated with an Associate of Science in Biology would be eligible to take advantage of the partnership.

In addition to saving time and money during their academic journey, students will receive mentorship and guidance to ensure they successfully complete the program’s requirements. On average, students can expect to save a year and a half of time by participating in the program.
