Community College of Philadelphia President Releases Statement in Response to Roe v. Wade Reversal

College President Dr. Donald ‘Guy’ Generals says that the College will continue to assist individuals in receiving access to health care, other essential resources

PHILADELPHIA – Community College of Philadelphia President Dr. Donald “Guy” Generals released the following statement in response to the United States Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade after nearly 50 years of access to safe reproductive health care:

“As an educational institution working to advance gender and racial equity, Community College of Philadelphia cannot sit idly by while reproductive rights are being stripped from women – after they were affirmed by our nation’s highest court some 50 years ago. Just as we’ve spoken out against racial injustices and economic inequity, we will also use our voices to advocate for the autonomy of anyone who may become pregnant, and the right to access the health care they need, no matter where they live.

Our Women’s Outreach and Advocacy Center will continue to assist individuals looking to be connected to resources like health care, child care, and stable housing, and provide education about this particular issue. We will also continue to host Enough Is Enough teach-ins, where we discuss issues that disproportionately affect Black and brown communities. We know there’s much more work to do, and we’re ready for the fight.”
