Community College of Philadelphia President to Host Fireside Chat During Latinx Heritage Month

PHILADELPHIA – As part of Latinx Heritage Month, which is celebrated by Community College of Philadelphia through Oct. 15, President Dr. Donald Guy Generals will host a virtual Fireside Chat today, Monday, Oct. 12.

The event will focus on the diversity throughout the College community and marks the first Fireside Chat event with the president of the fall 2020 semester.

Recommended readings before the event include “Letters from Cuba” by Ruth Behar, which tells the story of a young Jewish girl in World War II who escapes Poland and flees to Cuba, and “Everything Inside,” a collection of stories by Edwidge Danticat that focuses on the lives of people in the Haitian diaspora.

Students, faculty, staff, community members and media are invited to attend. The event will be hosted on Zoom at the link found here.
