PHILADELPHIA – Community College of Philadelphia announced that it will host a midpoint ceremony for its Career and Advanced Technology Center (CATC) at 12 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, at 4725 Chestnut St., Philadelphia, PA 19139. At this invite-only event, stakeholders will have the opportunity to receive updates on the programming and learning opportunities the CATC will provide, sign a stud with a permanent marker to be placed within the inner walls of the building, and participate in a guided tour of the facility.
Remarks will be provided by Dr. Donald Guy Generals, College president; Sheila Ireland, College trustee and deputy secretary of workforce development at the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry; dignitaries; a College student; and various community partners.
Anticipated to open in 2022, the CATC is a state-of-the-art teaching and learning facility that will offer for-credit and noncredit courses to support Philadelphia’s transportation, manufacturing and health care fields. With a focus on career readiness, entrepreneurship and hands-on learning, the CATC will bring community building and career training to the forefront of Philadelphia’s neighborhoods.
