Community College of Philadelphia Freshmen Duo Wins State Men's Doubles Tennis Championship

PHILADELPHIA, May 11, 2011—Community College of Philadelphia has captured the 2011 State Men’s Doubles Tennis Championship held at the Hillcrest Racquet Club in Reading, Pa.

Freshman players James Chau and Mehariah Tekle defeated Matthew Adams and Alan Peterson from Harrisburg Area Community College in the finals for the Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Association (PCAA).

Tennis Coach John Thompson saluted the young players for the progress they made this year. “We have noticed a coming together of a great group of young people,” Thompson said. “We are proud that the men’s doubles team emerged as the PCAA champions. It just goes to show you that if you want it enough, you will find a way to win.”

Previously, the College won the PCAA Men’s Doubles title in 2008 and the state overall team title in 2002, 2005 and 2007.
