Community College of Philadelphia to Celebrate 2021 Nursing Graduates in Virtual Pinning Ceremony, Drive-Through Celebration

The College will honor more than 100 nursing students in a two-day celebration leading up to the virtual commencement ceremony 

PHILADELPHIA – Community College of Philadelphia announced that its Department of Nursing will host a virtual pinning ceremony at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 6 to celebrate the 112 students graduating with an associate in Applied Science in Nursing.  

Graduates will hear from College President Dr. Donald Guy Generals, Vice President for Academic and Student Success Dr. Samuel Hirsch, Department of Nursing head Dr. Barbara McLaughlin, College Board of Trustees member Lydia Hernandez-Velez, Dean of the Division of Math, Science and Health Careers Dr. Mary Anne Celenza, and assistant professor of Nursing Dr. Tamika Curry, PhD, RN.  

In addition to welcoming graduating students into the nursing profession, the Department of Nursing will be presenting several awards during the pinning ceremony including: the Allen and Dorothy Bonnell Award, the Hal Lane Chesler Memorial Scholarship, the Ann Marie Maynard Memorial Scholarship, the Ivory Coleman Award, and the Bea Feibus Gerontology Award. 

At 9 a.m. Friday, May 7, the Nursing Department will host a drive-through ceremony at the College’s Parking Garage, on 17th Street between Spring Garden and Callowhill streets, where graduates can pick up their Nursing pins and other College memorabilia.
