WORLD-CLASS FACILITIES
Providing students with the structural resources they need to reach their goals is key as they prepare for a competitive workforce. The College is creating an environment that inspires learning, fosters discussion and research, and attracts future students.
A New Training Hub: The Career and Advanced Technology Center
Career-based education and programs will be housed in a new building in West Philadelphia. Plans are moving forward to provide residents with the skills they need to enter in-demand careers while developing pipelines of technical talent for area businesses.
Degrees and industry-recognized certificates will be offered at the state-of-the-art location in the areas of advanced manufacturing and health care, including the already popular Dental Assistant, Certified Nurse Aide and Welding programs.
The nearby building that houses the Automotive Technology programs will also receive improvements, allowing the College to expand the scope of these curricula to include more green technology and other high-demand training. The College broke ground for the new structure on Nov. 18, 2020, with a projected completion date of 2022.

Enacting Building Safety Measures During COVID-19
The safety and well-being of faculty, staff and students are the College’s paramount concerns, which is why online learning began in March 2020. With very limited staff at the Main Campus and Regional Centers, those who needed to briefly come onto campus had to obtain permission from their supervisor, fill out a health questionnaire, have their temperature checked by Security personnel, and wear a mask.
The Facilities Management team worked diligently to ensure workspaces were clean for anyone that came to the College and for those performing essential on-campus services through several actions:
- Daily cleaning of common areas and frequently touched surfaces
- Providing hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the campus
- Making sanitizing wipes available
- Revising workspace layouts and seating arrangements to allow for social distancing
- Designating hallways and stairways as one-way to reduce face-to-face traffic
- Closing common water coolers and water fountains
- Cleaning and maintenance work on the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems
