Spring Professional Development Week 2005 provides an opportunity to discuss community college challenges. Instead of a keynote address, a panel consisting of Waverly Coleman, Dennis McGrath, Elaine Tagliareni, Greg Thomas, and Susan Tobia (moderator) will discuss some critical contemporary issues. Following the panel discussion, the team is inviting your participation in roundtable conversations. The starting point for the dialogue will be the October 29th issue of the Chronicle that described our sector of higher education as experiencing an "identity crisis" brought on by current events. We hope every member of the College community will want to think about and share ideas about pressing issues that are affecting us as a College community.
- You may want to read the Chronicle articles in preparation for the discussion. For those who don't subscribe to the Chronicle, the articles are available online: Article 1 and Article 2.
During the week, there are several Banner training sessions scheduled as well as some past presenters providing alternative sessions to enrich the offerings. We did not issue a call for presentations for spring 2005.
Banner Academic Affairs Implementation Team
Using the Functions of the "MyCCP" Portal Workshops
As we approach the full conversion to the Banner systems, the next logical step for training is to become familiar with our new portal-- "MyCCP". The "MyCCP" Portal will offer College employees a common entry into our intranet and all of the Banner Self-Service menus. The Portal also has a web-based email and calendar system that the College will begin using exclusively at the end of the Spring Semester. As the College transitions from Groupwise to the new "MyCCP" Portal, faculty will need to know how to function in the new system. The workshop will be a "hands-on-training" for the new Portal system and portal email and calendar functions. This training is designated for FT Faculty and Visiting Lecturers. PT Faculty, Academic Affairs Administrators and Staff will be invited to other training sessions to be held during the Spring 2005 semester.
Participation in this training requires that you have command of the following skills:
- Use of the mouse to navigate a Windows environment
- Familiarity with use of the Internet and World Wide Web
- Currently use the College email system
- Basic "typing" computer sills
Faculty who believe they need training in more basic Windows' skills should contact Arnold DiBlasi to make arrangement for such training.
You may register for one of the following ten sessions by clicking here. Each workshop can accommodate a maximum of "36" participants. You must register for the workshop that you plan to attend. Walk-ins are not permitted.
