Call for Proposals
Beyond the Open Door: Academic Success and Persistence
          Fall 2005 Professional Development Week

A major priority in both our Strategic and Enrollment plans is an increase in student retention. Specifically, our goal is to "enhance and create new systematic support structures designed to encourage students' academic success and persistence at the College until their educational goals are achieved" (Strategic Plan 2004-2008).

During the Spring 2005 semester, President Curtis challenged us to set a modest retention goal of .5% improvement each year for the next five years. Everyone at the College - faculty, staff, and administrators - has a role to play in achieving this goal.

Members of the College community interested in making presentations, facilitating discussions, leading workshops, or creating virtual poster sessions during Fall 2005 Professional Development Week are encouraged to submit proposals related to the theme "Beyond the Open Door: Student Success and Persistence." Proposals not directly related to the theme will also be welcomed.

Proposals should be submitted no later than Wednesday, June 15, 2005. Presenters will be notified of acceptance.
