SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS

Introduction

Philadelphia residents who are graduating high school entering Community College of Philadelphia may apply for the Core Philly Scholarship. You may apply online at www.corephilly.org.

Community College of Philadelphia and the Community College of Philadelphia Foundation support community college education through the development of a viable student award and scholarship program. Unless otherwise noted, the scholarships and awards identified in this booklet are for use at Community College of Philadelphia.

The information contained on the scholarship page that is linked from this web page pertains to scholarships and awards for which Community College of Philadelphia students can submit applications. Each scholarship or award has an established application procedure, which must be followed for consideration. Eligibility criteria, deadlines, and contact information has been included for your information.

PLEASE READ: As a student receiving financial aid, you must inform the Financial Aid Office of any new scholarships or tuition benefits you receive which were not listed on your Financial Aid Award Letter. Please note that your financial aid award may be adjusted due to the addition of grants and scholarships, changes in your family financial condition, your enrollment status, your academic standing, or available government appropriations.

Helpful Hints

When completing a scholarship or award application follow these helpful hints:
  • Begin preparing the application as early as posssible. Time is needed to collect the necessary information, i.e., letters of recommendation, transcript, etc.
  • Follow the directions.
  • Submit a complete application with all requested information.
  • Take care drafting the essay - use correct grammar and punctuation, answer questions and address topics concisely, follow directions regarding essay length, spacing, margins, font, etc.
  • Provide academic transcript (if requested). Be sure to request transcript as early as possible from Enrollment Services.
  • Prior to beginning the process, thoroughly review the application criteria to ensure eligibility. In all instance, only participants who meet eligibility criteria will be considered for the scholarship or award.
  • Request assistance to have the best chance of winning an award or scholarship.
    It's often helpful to ask a trusted faculty member, counselor, advisor, family member or friend to review an application prior to submission.
  • Submit the completed application by the deadline. Applications submitted after the stated deadline will not be considered - no exceptions.
