Shop for Success: Online Auction to Help Community College of Philadelphia Students Reach Their Educational Goals
Philadelphia, PA - The Community College of Philadelphia Foundation will host its 2nd Annual Online Auction beginning March 16 to raise money for scholarships and programs to support students. The auction can be found at www.ccpfoundationauction.cmarket.com through April 13.Approximately 100 businesses and individuals donated to last year’s auction, which raised more than $9,500. As the private development arm of Community College of Philadelphia, the Foundation’s business, civic, and community leaders support the institution by promoting it and providing student scholarships.
“Participation and interest in our first on-line auction was phenomenal,” said Elise Morgan, Director of Development/Fundraising Events. “Bidders were really excited about the depth and quality of our auction catalog and how easy it was to bid, buy and secure their items,” she said.
The 2nd Annual Online Auction will offer a few new features. The Foundation has added a “Buy Now” feature that will allow bidders to purchase specific items for a set price without posting a bid. Auction items available include hotel packages, spa packages, sports memorabilia and collectibles, and restaurant gift certificates.
Tuition and fees at Community College of Philadelphia have risen 65 percent over the last five years making it more difficult for some students to handle the educational costs. The Foundation has established numerous scholarship funds, including a book fund to help students who, due to an emergency, can’t afford to purchase costly textbooks. High-achieving students, who need financial assistance to complete their educational goals and meet the eligibility requirements, benefit from the many scholarship programs.
Businesses, groups or individuals who wish to donate to the auction or to the Foundation’s scholarship programs may do so by contacting Elise Morgan at emorgan@ccp.edu or 215-751-8022.
