COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF PHILADELPHIA HOSTS MICHAEL ERIC DYSON LECTURE ON POP CULTURE AND EDUCATION
PHILADELPHIA, Pa., March 17, 2006- Acclaimed author, scholar and cultural critic Michael Eric Dyson will give a lecture entitled "Academic Success --
Bridging the Cultural and Generational Gap," at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 12 at Community College of Philadelphia.
Coordinated by The African-American Men's Book Club, the event will be held in the Large Auditorium in the Bonnell Building at 1700 Spring Garden Street.

17th Street between Callowhill and Spring Garden Streets.
An ordained Baptist preacher and best-selling author of 11 books, Dyson is a dynamic speaker who has received many awards and accolades, including the 1992
magazine award from the National Association of Black Journalists, the 2004 NAACP Image Award and the 2005 Black Entertainment Television/General Motors
Black History Makers award.
Nearly all of Dyson's books have been on the bestseller's list, including the 2004 New York Times bestseller, Mercy, Mercy Me: The Art, Loves and Demons
of Marvin Gaye. Dyson is currently the Avalon Foundation Professor in the Humanities and professor of Religious Studies and Africana Studies at the
University of Pennsylvania.
