Application Process and Forms
The Education Service in the Department of Veterans Affairs offers educational benefits for veterans through the G.I. Bill and various education programs. Details about payment rates and the specific advantages of each program can be found on the Education Benefits page at the G. I. Bill website. (http://www.gibill.va.gov/GI_Bill_Info/benefits.htm). You can also contact your assigned duty unit clerk if you need more information.
After you have verified the program you are eligible to participate in, you must complete the appropriate forms. Visit the G.I. Bill Education Benefits Web site (http://www.gibill.va.gov/GI_Bill_Info/benefits.htm) and select Education Forms.
You are required to file two forms with Student Records and Registration to enroll in a benefits program:
- Form 22-1999, the Enrollment Certification form, can be obtained from the Student Records and Registration office
- The Veterans Benefits Registration form can be filled out online or picked up from the Records and Registration office. Visit the Veteran’s Educational Benefits page on the Student Records and Registration site (http://www.ccp.edu/site/current/registration/veterans.php) and click on the link to Veterans Benefits Registration form
These forms should be filed at the start of each academic year or term(s) you wish to begin the VA benefits process.
You must also complete Form 22-1990, the Application for Education Benefits form, and submit it to your regional VA office, either online through the Web site or through the mail, in order to initiate the process of receiving benefits from Veterans Affairs.

Instructions on how to complete each form are available on the G.I. Bill Web site (http://www.gibill.va.gov/GI_Bill_Info/benefits.htm). Under Education Benefits, select Education Forms to access information about the specific forms you are interested in.
