Enjoy the passionate and soulful sounds of Persian music as played by a local Iranian musician in the intimacy of the Coffeehouse. You will learn about Persia’s long tradition of poetry and song, as well as about its instruments.

Dr. Birdwhistell is professor of Philosophy and Asian Civilization in the Philosophy
and Religion program at Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. She received a
B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1966, an M.A. in 1968 and a Ph. D. in 1974 from Stanford University. Her most recent book, Li Yong, along with
Epistemological Dimensions of Confucian Philosophy (Stanford University Press,
1996), as well as her most recent article, “Ecological Questions for Daoist Thought: Contemporary Issues and Ancient Texts,” touch on the topic of human’s belief in religion and its impact on the environment.
