Our Supervisory Management Certificate program emphasizes the key roles, responsibilities, and skills needed for your to become an effective supervisor and enhance your organizations productivity and effectiveness.  The overall goal of the program is individual skill development that enhances communication, team building, effective coaching and counseling, problem solving, and time management.  The program's set of highly interactive workshops is designed for new or veteran  first line supervisors who want to increase their effectiveness in managing and leading employees.

The 8 key areas of successful supervision emphasized are:  making the transition to supervision, performance management, the legal side of supervision, managing your time and work, communication skills, coaching and counseling, finding and keeping the best people, and building effective teams.

Requirements for the Supervisory Management Certificate

The certificate program requires successful completion of a minimum of 30 hours of training from among eight workshops.  Individuals can choose from the courses listed below that best suit their individual and/or organization’s needs. 

Supervisory Management Certificate Program

Build Effective Teams – (MANG B9509) 6 hours ($199)

Learn the characteristics of effective work groups and teams, discover how to develop those groups, and learn specific techniques and tools for leading them at various stages of group development. Go to Registration page

Coaching and Counseling Skills – (MANG B9547) 6 hours ($199)

Learn how to gather information, analyze institutions, communicate to address performance problems and enhance each employee's current productivity and potential. Go to Registration page

Communication Skills for Supervisors and Managers -(MANG B9598) 6 hours ($199)

Learn and practice an effective communication model, active listening techniques, nonverbal communication, and presentation skills. You will get feedback from your peers as well as the instructor on your own communication style. Go to Registration page

Finding and Keeping the Best People – (MANG B9548) 6 hours ($199)

Explore current techniques and tools in attracting and retaining people within and outside of your organization. Go to Registration page

Legal Side of Supervision – (MANG B9522) 3 hours ($99)

The student will learn the legal requirements of the supervisor's role and how to be effective in protecting the organization and the supervisor from potential legal actions. Go to Registration page

Making The Transition To Supervisor Or Manager – (MANG B9523) 3 hours ($99)

This program helps you make a smooth transition into supervision by giving an overview and opportunities for practicing key skills. The student will learn how to avoid common mistakes and pitfalls in entering a supervisory role. Go to Registration page

Managing Your Time and Work as a Supervisor – (MANG B9543) 3 hours ($99)

Explore formal and informal ways to manage your own workflow and time, using the resources of your organization and personal methods of organizing work.  Learn new techniques that can be transferred to your job cost-effectively. Go to Registration page

Performance Management Fundamentals – (MANG B9530) 3 hours ($99)

Participants will learn to set goals, measure progress, and appraise the job performance of subordinates by their direct reports as they rise to meet the challenges of their jobs as supervisors and/or managers. Go to Registration page
