
Small Business Management Certificate Program

The Small Business Management Certificate program is small business training that helps budding entrepreneurs realize their dream of business ownership and provides critical skills training to help existing businesses remain competitive in a challenging economic marketplace. Each training module was created with input from area small business owners and economic development organizations through a series of focus groups. The training sessions are cost effective, convenient, and offer small business training in a variety of workshop topics such as, business planning, accounting, finance, legal, taxes, insurance, and marketing.
All of the small business training workshops can be taken on a topic by topic basis or you can complete the program module requirements to receive a certificate for one or more of the program modules. Click on Program Module titles to see current descriptions and schedules.
- Program Module 1 - Starting Your Business focuses on the needs of the new business owner. Participants must complete all of the workshops associated with the track and have the opportunity to complete a business plan as part of the requirements.
- Program Module 2 - Maintaining Your Business is designed to support business owners whose businesses have been in existence between one and five years. Participants must complete a minimum of five workshops from Track 2 and program electives with at least three from Track 2.
- Program Module 3 - Growing Your Business is designed to support business owners with businesses that have been in existence for at least five years. Workshops will be taught by small business owners with expertise in the various topics presented. Participants must complete any four workshops from Track 3, or three workshops from Track 3 and one program elective, or two workshops from Track 3 and two program electives.
A certificate is awarded upon successful completion of each program module.
