Track 3 - Growing Your Business
Track 3 is designed to support business owners with businesses that have been in existence for at least three years. Workshops will be taught by small business owners with expertise in the various topics presented.
Participants must complete four (4) workshops to receive a certificate for Growing Your Business. You must complete a minimum of 2 workshops from Track 3, with the remainer from program electives. Track 3 Workshops include:

Procuring Federal Contracts - 6 hours; $85
Government contracts for $100,000.00 are targeted to small business owners. Procuring Federal Contracts is designed to provide small business owners with strategies for finding government buyers, bid leads, writing a winning proposal, and indispensable government websites.

Collaboration Strategies - 6 hours; $85
Small business owners can work together to help one another. Whether the partnerships are informal or structured, simple techniques including bartering, combining purchasing power, and sharing resources can result in reduced costs and increased revenue. This workshop is designed to assist small business owners in finding creative solutions to remaining financially solvent.

Succession Planning - 6 hours; $85
As their businesses grow, small business owners must begin to plan for their passing the leadership baton to the next generation. A succession plan is a critical element in successfully transferring an organization to the next generation. Succession Planning will help seasoned small business owners begin planning for the smooth transition and continuation of their business.

Global Marketing Strategies - 6 hours; $85
Terms such as "global village" and "world economy" and "global marketplace" have become commonplace in this country's business world vernacular. For small businesses, marketing goods and services on a global scale can result in substantial profits but requires thorough planning. Global Marketing Strategies provides small business owners with a foundation for globalization including the nine principal strategies for going global.

Protecting Your Intellectual Property - 6 hours; $85
One of the most important legal areas for the entrepreneur to understand is the ways in which new products, processes, written material, names and company symbols are protected. It is essential for the small business owner to be savvy with respect to the types of legal protection required. In this workshop the federal laws of patents, trademarks and copyrights are reviewed. Trade secret law will also be examined.

Change Management & Strategic Planning - 6 hours; $85
Dealing with change and crisis is difficult in any business environment but can be particularly stressful in a small business environment. Change Management and Strategic Planning for Small Businesses provides seasoned small business owners who may be facing significant organizational changes with tips and tools for controlling stress levels and remaining solvent during transitional periods. Additionally this workshop examines the correlation between change management and strategic planning.

This business management system includes accounts, invoicing, receivables, payables, inventory, & payroll. This course will provide new users with a review of accounting basics, setting up a company, using bank accounts, invoicing & receivables, paying bills & generating reports. This workshop is suited to individuals who have recently purchased QuickBooks for their business but may be unsure of where or how to start.

Intermediate QuickBooks - 9 hours; $254
Are you a bookkeeper, small business owner, or accountant in need of an intermediate level class that covers the essentials of using QuickBooks? Then this Intermediate
QuickBooks workshop is for you! The class focuses on tracking inventory, running payroll, reconciling bank accounts and budgeting small businesses. You will complete
practical excercises to learn how to create invoices and credit memos, write and print checks, add custom fields set up budgets and learn how to protect and back up their
data.

Introduction to Peachtree - 3 hours; $65
Introduction to Peachtree accounting software will prepare small business owners to process their accounting needs using the general journal and the general ledger for a service organization. Recording transactions, posting, making adjustments, and preparing financial statements will also be examined. Offered FALL 2011

Disaster Recovery - 3 hours; $65
With considerably less resources available than larger corporations, small businesses are vulnerable to the impact of a natural or man-made disaster. Disaster Recovery for Small Businesses provides small business owners with steps to protect the business from a major or minor disaster. Participants will learn how to use the process of disaster management and business continuity to safe guard their business and how to implement a disaster recovery plan.

Is Franchisement for me? - 3 hours; $65
An attractive alternative to launching an independent business endeavor is to purchase an existing franchise. This workshop identifies the benefits and drawbacks of franchising a business. The entrepreneur will learn the laws covering franchise purchases, how to buy a franchise, areas of growth, and the main trends shaping the franchise business.
