DIET 106 Nutrition for a Healthy Lifestyle

Introduction to the science of nutrition with an emphasis on the application of optimal nutrition for a healthy lifestyle. Presents basic nutrition principles for students to analyze and apply to their nutrition habits. The students will
utilize a variety of tools and techniques, including computer applications, to evaluate their lifestyles.

DIET 111 Introduction to Nutrition

This course provides foundational knowledge in the science of nutrition for nursing and other students interested in health careers. It will help students understand the scientific basis for promoting health. They will learn about factors affecting food selection, standards for assessing dietary quality and criteria for evaluating the reliability of nutrition information available to today’s consumer. The course provides basic knowledge about normal nutrition throughout the life cycle. Prerequisites: ENGL 101, BIOL 109.
