Degree and Certificate Programs
Each of the programs at Community College of Philadelphia follows in alphabetical
order. Each is described briefly and includes a grid of the course requirements
for graduation. This information will help guide you in selecting the
courses you need for graduation in a sequence which will help you move
through consecutively more challenging information.
Regular consultation with an academic advisor is important, whether a
student is planning to enter the employment market directly or continue
on in higher education.
Many students at the College spread their academic work across several
years, attending part-time, rather than attending full-time.
No matter what your scheduling plans, the grid provides a road map of
both required and suggested courses.
The first column on the grid is headed Recommended Course Sequence. This
indicates the order in which the faculty members of this curriculum recommend
the courses be taken. This helps prepare students for each successive
course.
The second column is headed Course Number and Name. It
provides the official name and number of each course in the curriculum.
Descriptions of these courses and the prerequisites or corequisites are
contained in the course-descriptions section of the Catalog. Completion
of the prerequisites and corequisites assures students that they are prepared
to handle the work covered in the course selected.
The third column is Prerequisite or Corequisite. This
lists the prerequisites (courses which must be completed before registering
for the course listed) and corequisites (courses which must be taken at
the same time).
The last column is Credits. This is the number of credits
which will be awarded upon successful completion of the corresponding
course. These credits are multiplied by the numerical equivalent of your
course grade to establish your academic grade-point-average. For details,
see Grading System in the Policies for Students
section of this Catalog.
