Academic Advising

Faculty Advisor Resources

The Role of the Academic Advisor

Students seek assistance from academic advisors to help them plan their education at Community College of Philadelphia. It is essential for advisors to have the guidance, knowledge and support necessary to advise students. Academic advisors are not expected to possess knowledge about every aspect of the College; nevertheless, it is ideal for each advisor to have accessibility to the materials needed to properly advise students, know the procedures of the Academic Advising Center and have proper training as an academic advisor.

Advisor Resources

Academic Advising not only offers guidance to students; but equally as important, we offer guidance to advisors. Considering that students seek and receive guidance with their educational plans from advisors, it is essential for the advisors to feel secure in their advising abilities and know that the Academic Advising Center is available to provide guidance and training. We are determined to provide each advisor with academic advising materials, proper training and support.

In this site, you will find the following materials:
  • General advising procedures
  • Responsibilities of an advisor
  • Program/department head contact list
  • Common student questions
  • Banner program codes

The Academic Advising Center encourages suggestions from advisors. Please do not hesitate to contact our office at 215-751-8777 or 8778 or email advising@ccp.edu.
