The Academic Advising System at Community College of Philadelphia is designed to help students achieve their academic goals and to support faculty advisors in their work with students. We do so by facilitating a variety of options for students seeking advice from faculty advisors, including curriculum advising in academic departments and walk-in advising at all campuses, and by offering relevant training for faculty advisors that will assist them in meeting the needs of the students we serve.
Who We Are
Advisors are faculty members from different areas of the College who give assistance to continuing students in good academic standing, meaning students who are preparing for their second semester and beyond, are not on academic probation, and are not on a provisional acceptance to the College.
What We Do
While the ultimate responsibility for making decisions about personal goals and educational plans rests with each student, faculty advisors will identify and assess the various options that are available to you.
Faculty advisors are glad to help continuing students in good standing with the following:
- Assist you in selecting the appropriate courses to fulfill the requirements of your program
- selecting the appropriate courses to fulfill the requirements of your program
- defining your educational and career goals
- identifying resources and services to help you manage your academic life
- understanding information about institutional policies, procedures and programs
Students may visit BG-12 (Bonnell Building) on the Main Campus to get more information about Academic Advising and to take advantage of the walk-in advising service. Our hours change frequently to address the ever-changing needs of our students. Academic advising is also available at all three of our Regional Centers. Please contact the regional center for hours and other information.
Choosing Community College of Philadelphia is a wonderful step toward a positive future, and Academic Advising will help you on your academic journey.
