About the College
Community College of Philadelphia is the largest public institution of higher
education in the City. Since 1965, over 500,000 students have passed through
our doors seeking associate's degrees, certificates, improved workplace
skills and lifelong learning. Many of our degree students transfer to
four-year institutions while others seek employment in the Philadelphia
region. Over 90 percent of our graduates remain in the area and seek employment,
strengthening our local economy and workforce. Local businesses look to
us to provide workplace training to keep their workers skilled and their
companies competitive.
We offer over 70 degree and certificate programs in art, science, business,
technology and liberal arts. Many of our students have hectic schedules,
and we know how to accommodate every type of learner. Classes are held
during the day, in the evening and on Saturdays at the Main Campus, our
three Regional Centers and at neighborhood sites throughout the City.
Distance education classes are also available.
If you wish to continue your education, we make transferring to a four-year
institution as easy as possible. Our specialized dual
admissions and transfer
programs will assist you in this process.
At the College, we are here to meet your needs. Excellent educational
support services are available to you, from counseling and tutoring to
adult education programs.
Student life is an important aspect at the College. Over 40 clubs and
associations give you the opportunity to learn something new, make more
friends and have fun. Thirteen intercollegiate athletic programs, plus
more than twelve intramural sports, provide a competitive outlet. Our
gymnasium offers more fitness options with a full-size basketball court,
cardiovascular and weight room, aerobics facilities and racquetball courts.
Our students are diverse in many aspects and represent dozens of different
cultural backgrounds, including local students and our international students
that come from 65 countries. Our students are of all different ages and
have different educational objectives. In conjunction with our mission,
we encourage the appreciation of all cultural backgrounds and are proud
of our diverse student population.
