5K Race, Walk and Pooch 'n' Pal Stroll

Martin Luther King Drive

(Formerly known as West River Drive)

7:00 a.m. – Walk Up Registration      8:30 a.m. – 5K Race Start

The Race
The out-and-back course is flat and runs along the Schuylkill River, with beautiful views of Boathouse Row across the water. Cash prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female 5K finishers ($100). The top three male and female 5K finishers in seven age categories (19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+) will receive commemorative medals.

In 2006, the overall men’s winner finished in 16:00, and the women’s overall winner finished in 19:30.

The Walk
Fitness-focused individuals and groups walk variable distances, ranging from a half-mile to the full 5K (3.10 miles). Cones along the course will mark the halfway point for one and two mile walks, as well as the 5K turnaround.

Wheelchairs are welcome for the walk.

The Pooch ‘n’ Pal Stroll
Six-legged teams of dogs and their favorite people walk in support of scholarships and programs for students. Special goodie bags with treats for registered dogs will be supplied.

This year we have added a Howl-o-ween costume contest for our canine participants - a great excuse to get a jump on the spooky season. Prizes will be awarded to the top three contestants.
