Library of Congress
Looking for a real National Treasure? Check out the Library of Congress website.  Here you'll have access to webcasts, images, music, teaching resources, newspapers, legislative information and website archiving (i.e. you can view what websites looked like on a specific date - like September 11th, 2001).
Subjects cover the gamut from American history to science and music. Familiarizing yourself with the website will feel like a day spent visiting museums. Use photos, primary sources, videos, podcasts and webcasts to bring excitement to your classroom or identify some resources for students to investigate on their own. Have a question? Try the "Ask a Librarian" feature. Cultural literacy is a click away!

MOOM: The Museum of On-Line Museums

VIEW MUSEUM EXHIBITS ON THE WEB!
Philadelphia had some wonderful local museums - but what if you want your students to see exhibits in far away places? Cheaper than a SEPTA pass and less complicated than coordinating a field trip - the MOOM website can take you and your students to museums across the globe. From conventional to quirky - the museums and exhibits covered by this site are sure to give you and your class something to talk about.
  • Take your class on a field trip without leaving the room
  • Assign homework that sends your students to distant lands to see museum exhibits in art, history, science etc. without having them leave the city.
