Liautaud-Watkins manages presidential initiatives to advance the College’s mission

PHILADELPHIA – Community College of Philadelphia has announced that Danielle Liautaud-Watkins, JD, joined the College as special assistant to the President. In this role, Liautaud-Watkins is responsible for being a trusted and informed advisor to the president, serving as the point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, and planning and directing initiatives within the Office of the President that advance the College’s mission.

Liautaud-Watkins joins the College after 23 years of employment at William Paterson University. In her most recent role, she served as associate provost for Academic Development. In that role, she was responsible for the oversight and development of offices and programs that supported the academic persistence and success of students including: academic testing, placement, foundational skill and development, tutoring, undergraduate advisement, the Equal Opportunity Fund program, and the Sophomore and Transfer Student Experience offices.

Liautaud-Watkins worked with the administration to promote faculty development and was involved with enhancing the university’s brand through the website and other promotional materials. She also designed Will.Power.101, an unique first-year student experience that provided participants with academic, community engagement, and personal development skills to ease their transition to the University. The program assisted in narrowing the achievement gap for Black and Latinx students, increasing the number of credits they earned, and raising freshman academic performance.

“We are excited to have Danielle Liautaud-Watkins at the College in the role of special assistant to the president,” said College President Dr. Donald “Guy” Generals. “Danielle is a big-picture leader with more than 20 years of experience in prioritizing student success. She will play a pivotal role in our efforts to not only identify, but address the barriers to academic achievement that our students may face.”

Liautaud-Watkins joined the College in August and currently holds memberships to many national associations and serves as a resource for the New Jersey School Board Association.

Liautaud-Watkins earned her Juris Doctor degree from Syracuse University School of Law and a Master’s in Education with a specialization in Counseling from William Paterson University. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education with a specialization in Organizational Leadership.
