Basics of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Over 7 weeks students will be introduced to GIS concepts and software. Students will develop a basic understanding of what constitutes GIS, how it is used in the contemporary workplace, how to locate open source data (e.g. Data Philly and PASDA) and develop skills working with industry standard GIS software, such as how to create a simple map. This workshop is offered in an asynchronous online format.
