What is the Women's Center?

The Women’s Center was formed in 2002 for the purpose of establishing an arena that best serves the needs primarily of women students and all students at Community College of Philadelphia who require the services offered by the Center. The Center is designed to provide comprehensive services that will respond to the social, emotional, professional, and educational and personal development needs, as well as health and safety concerns of women students on campus.The Center provides diverse programming to meet the needs o a diverse campus population.

Where is the Women's Center located?
The Women's Center is housed in the Winnet Student Life Building on the 3rd floor in Room S3.09. Entrance to the building is on
17th Street between Spring Garden and Callowhill Streets.
When is the Women's Center open?
The hours of operation for the Women's Center are 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays and 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
Can I schedule an appointment with somenone?
Yes. Please call 215.751.8828 to schedule an appointment with Women's Center Director Dr. Claudia Curry.
Is the Women's Center just for women?
No. Women and men are encouraged to take advantage of the services and programs offered by the Women's Center and to contribute to its mission. The Center provides a focal point where  can convene as a community for advocacy, collaboration, research, and education.
Do you provide scholarships for students?
The Women's Center does not administer scholarships. However, students are encouraged to look through the list of Scholarships and Awards offered by the College.
What services does the Women's Center offier?
The Women's Center provides support and discussion groups, educational programs, conferences, and advocacy support on issues impacting women and their families. We host difference events like the annual Women's Expo and the Health Expo, Survival Skills for the Adult Learner, Open Mic, Love Your Body Day, HIV/AIDS Rapid Testing, Financial Empowerment, Domestic Violence Movies Series, and Building Self-Esteem. To learn about the times, dates, and volunteer opportunities, click on the Women's Center Calendar of Events link. We also offer a library, vidoes, referral services, free books, and a community bulletin board. There is a sitting area available and we encourage people to stop by and hang out.

We also offer free HIV Rapid Testing for students.
How do I find out what other services are available to women students? The Women's Center maintains a Women's Resource Directory that lists a variety of local agencies that provide programs and services for women and their families. The Directory can be downloaded from this website or you can pick up a copy from the Women's Center located in Room S3-09 on the 3rd floor of the Winnet Student Life Building.
Can I schedule the Women's Center for an event?
The Women's Center has a small conference room that is available for small team meetings and support group meetings. The space is available for scheduling during regular business hours (and after business hours pending availability of staff). Please contact the Women's Center at 215.751.8808 or womencenter@ccp.edu to reserve the conference room.
How can I partner with the Women's Center on programs and events?
Each semester, the Women's Center collaborates on programs, conferences, seminars, and special events with campus and community groups. All events must support the mission and vision of the Women's Center. Please call Dr. Claudia Curry at 215.751.8828 to discuss opportunities to cosponsor an event(s).
Are there volunteer opportunites with the Women's Center?
The Women's Center offers a number of opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and community members to become involved in carrying out its mission. Opportunities include: program planning, co-sponsorship of programs and activities, Women's History Month, newsletter, administrative support, committee involvement, and leading group activities. Interested persons can download a Women's Center Volunteer Application or stop by the Women's Center to register for volunteer opportunities.
What are the benefits of volunteering with the Women's Center?
The benefits of volunteering with the Women's Center include enhancing leadership skills, cultivating unused skills, connection with a supportive environment, acquiring valuable work experience, an increased awareness about women's issues, increasing personal networks, and partnership with a network of talented women leaders.
How do I report incidents of sexual harassment or discrimination on campus?
The College's Office of Diversity and Equity investigates reports of sexual harassment and discrimination. Please call the office directly at 215.751.8039 to schedule an appointment.
I use a mobility device. How can I access the Women's Center?
To reach the Women's Center with a mobility device, use the 17th Street entrance to the Winnet Student Life Building. After entering the building, Security staff will direct to you the ramp that leads to the elevator. We are located on the 3rd floor in Room S3.09.
